Cyborgs everywhere!

This week is a bit silly:

Cyborgs are all around us. You might think that you're looking at a beautiful girl/guy playing with their mobile computer, listening to music on a nice day. Everything seems great, but what you're ignoring is you're taking a look at a cyborg. You may think I've become a paranoid schizophrenic and my delusions have overtaken me (if you were unaware, that's my one-line bio); however, I'm talking about a world 20 - 30 years from now which is caused by our technology-fetish. Yet, instead of the sci-fi stories that paralyze our analysis with fear-mongering, my analysis should shed dopamine-inducing light onto the matter.

If you think about it, digital screens impair our sight; digital music players reduce our hearing; digital & plastic surfaces damage our feeling; unnatural scents defy our nose; and finally, over-processed foods will just kill us (and take our taste with it!). This is all part of what will force us into the realm of cyborg-conversion (an imminent religion deemed to overtake all). Additionally, projects such as Sixth Sense allow us to view into the future of computing.

As more American bodies start falling apart from years of abuse, they will have to prescribe drugs and wear intelligent machinery to augment damaged senses. Yet, as more people start to adjust and allow accessory machines to input information there will be more uses for the technology. Imagine an entire population of individuals that are attached to their hearing aids, reality-augmenting vision sensors, tactile gloves and emotion-detecting devices. Now add the Internet on top of that. You have an entire population that can communicate entirely digitally. You will no longer have to be with someone physically to "feel their presence".

I'll elaborate further in future posts.
